Facts about mySet and Ask The DJ come from their own websites and manuals (linked below), checked as of October 2026. Feature sets can change — check their sites for the latest.

What mySet does — and where it fits

mySet is a song request app aimed at live music performers. Fans request songs from the artist's profile, add money to requests, leave tips, boost requests up the queue, or become monthly supporters — and there is no cost to the artist (mySet FAQ).

A few things to know before signing up: you need to add songs to your profile before creating an event, and mySet recommends 20 or more so the crowd has choices. Fans pay a $1.50 fee plus card processing on each transaction unless the artist chooses to cover it. Artists keep 100% of tips and request earnings (mySet homepage, mySet FAQ).

Best fit: bands and solo performers playing bars, clubs and livestreams whose fans are comfortable paying to request and boost songs.

What Ask The DJ does — and where it fits

Ask The DJ is a built-in feature of VirtualDJ, not a standalone app. Your audience sends requests and comments from any web browser, and they land in the Ask The DJ folder inside your VirtualDJ software. Requests are live only: they're stored up to 6 hours with a maximum of 100 at a time (VirtualDJ manual).

That makes it a clean request inbox for DJs who already mix in VirtualDJ. Tipping is available through PayPal, Cash App, Venmo or a custom wallet, and you can add your logo to the request page — but there are no paid requests, no queue boosting, no crowd-facing screen, and no event marketing around it.

Best fit: VirtualDJ users who just want requests delivered into their software with nothing else to manage.

What makes RequestLine different

Zero tip fees. Tips go straight from your guests to you — via your own Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, Zelle or Chime handles, or by card straight to your own Stripe account. RequestLine never takes a percentage. (Card processing fees charged by Stripe still apply; that's between you and Stripe.) You set your payment handles once and every event uses them — no per-event setup, no waiting for a platform payout.

The Live Hype Screen. Put a QR code on every table and a big-screen display on the venue's TV: requests, boosts, shout-outs, photo and video moments, and paid screen celebrations play out live for the whole room. Guests interact with each other, not just with you — which is what turns a request list into a show.

Built for event DJs. Verified song search so guests can't request typo'd titles, moderation controls you own, a school-safe mode that locks on first-names-only and approval rules, wedding and corporate modes, fundraisers, a public DJ page that captures booking leads — and Stop That Track, where a guest pays to skip the current song and everyone watches it happen.

Which one should you pick?

If you're a touring band or livestream performer, mySet's pay-to-request model is proven and its fan community is real. If you live inside VirtualDJ and want nothing but a request inbox, Ask The DJ does exactly that.

If you DJ weddings, school events, or corporate parties — and you want to keep every tip dollar, run a crowd-facing screen, and turn guests into future bookings — RequestLine is built for that night. Start free and see how your next event goes.
